About the Event
Rooted in Healing Retreat is a space cultivated to promote community healing through movement, dialogue, and reflection. An experience created because of the overwhelming trauma that plagues communities through state sanctioned violence, gun violence, racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, and all other forms of hate generated towards other group of human beings.
Community Advocacy and Healing Project believes that healing cannot be done without community. We believe in cultivating experiences that are centered in cultural mindfulness, healing and human centeredness. The rooted in healing retreat is apart of our 400 years of healing initiated where we focus on healing from trauma caused by colonialism and racism. Participants are invited to participate in a day of connecting, reflecting, and healing as we honor ourselves, our wounds and cultivate community.
We invite you, your family, friends, and community to join us for a space of healing. A Space guided by our Birther and Director Fatima "The Barefoot Empress" Mann. JD. The Barefoot Empress has a 200 Hatha yoga certification, and utilizes it to connect back with her body as a survivor of sexual violence, and aid others do the same. She traverses through the world barefoot and has overcome elements created by weather shifts and systematic oppression. Trained to guide racial healing spaces, and how to have in depth courageous conversations about racial impact. Although she aides guide the space, but the Retreat is a collective space. A space where participants are invited to flow how they need to in every moment they are present in the space while practicing holistic mindfulness.
