Community is Restoration a culturally appropriate, trauma- informed human centered effort focused on aiding people holistically restore themselves and their communities, before, during and after traumatic events such as natural, human, or systemic created disasters. The holistic restoration of a person involves meeting people’s immediate needs in a culturally mindful way and delivering services in a non-traumatic demeanor.

Restoration in the heart of communities.
We appreciate all the work of all the volunteers that have assisted deliver and distribute supplies, tools, and assist restore homes. There has been six deliveries of resources and supplies. Supplies ranging from water, food, to clothes, and feminine hygiene products. We have connected people in need with volunteers to assist them muck and gut their homes. There is so much more that needs to be done, and we invite you to help us help others. People need assistance in mucking and gutting their homes, as mold has begun to form, creating a health hazard. People need healing and mental wellness resources. The impact of one natural disasters can cause PTSD and so much more, but this community has experienced two natural disasters within two years. One of our roles is to aid recruit trauma informed mental health and wellness professionals, that are willing to travel to impacted areas and/or provide care virtually. We are seeking people who are familiar with aiding people through loss and grief in a culturally mindful and healing centered manner. Hurricane Dorian Efforts

Recently Hurricane Dorian hit the Bahamas killing hundreds and leaving even more homeless. Many people are experiencing loss and mental health concerns, as a result of the traumatic event. It is important to recognize that everyone responds to traumatic events, such as hurricane, differently. The recovery process for some people may be immediate, while others may not begin to process the event until months or possibly years later. We understand that people will move at their own pace to pick up the pieces after a large-scale natural disaster, and we would like to assist bring culturally mindful resources to the Bahamas for people’s recovery process. We are raising funds to provide culturally mindful resources and supplies to aid people during their recovery process. We are also recruiting volunteers to assist bring healing efforts to the Bahamas. Please sign up to donate and volunteer below. Hurricane Season 2017
We collaborated with over twenty organizations to provide supplies directly in the hearts of communities systemically oppressed and ostracized during Hurricane Harvey, Maria, and Florence in Houston, Beaumont, Port Arthur, and Baytown Texas, along with Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, and St. Croix. We raised almost $25, 000 in four to five months.
Hurricane Season 2018
During tropical storm Florence CAAHP was able to assist in coordinating supplies with five sites located in underserved communities in Wilmington, North Carolina,
We were able to raise almost $2,200 in one month to purchase supplies to distribute in Wilmington.
